HiDock H1 – ChatGPT-Powered Audio Dock with AI Summary
I somehow didn’t realise how cool the potential of GPT-powered hardware is, among the excitement of the software itself, or the ubiquity of smartphones, but this is getting us closer and closer to Jarvis and Iron Man. The HiDock H1 is an audio dock for your desk that automatically takes notes for you during work calls, lectures, or any audio from your computer, as well as enhancing the quality of that audio from both ends. Additionally, it works as a more traditional dock, with 11 ports across USB A and C, HDMI, SD card, ethernet and more, and clever features like a physical button you press when you want something that was just said by someone to be highlighted, to return to later. This more likely an early look at the direction we’ll be heading in with home-based AI hardware, but I’m excited to see where it will lead.
Dutch Cycling Lifestyle – Reinvent your street with AI, Dutch-style
I think this is one of my favourite use-cases of AI so far. This website, made by the official tourism website for the Netherlands, uses generative AI to recreate any Google Maps address as if designed for walking, cycling, and nature, instead of cars. It works via Street View; you enter an address, choose your angle, and the engine then generates a few different options of the image of the selected street reimagined. It’s not perfect, and does create some funny looking results, but more often than not you end up with a view that looks great, and makes you wish your street was as pleasantly designed as it looks here. I love projects like this that can get people caring about the urban and social design of their cities, awesome initiative.
How To Make Videos Like a PRO! - Gawx Art – Incredibly talented young filmmaker and artist .
Gawx is a visual artist, but leaving it at that massively undersells him. His YouTube channel documenting his art-making process has become a repository of insanely engaging, beautifully filmed and produced short films full of personality and story – and 2.1 million other subscribers agree. And he’s only 20 years old. His new video is a masterclass on his filmmaking process, deftly combining education with the usual stunning visuals and hooks. Highly recommend giving this a watch, even if you’re not into creating videos.
Belkin BOOST↑CHARGE™ PRO 2-in-1 Wireless Charging Dock with MagSafe – Mouthful of a name, great-looking charger
Belkin’s latest release in the MagSafe charging dock space looks super nice, very understated, and not at all “tech”. Without a device attached it looks like it could be a minimal decorative sculpture, which will definitely appeal to those wanting to avoid their bedside table looking like a JB Hi-Fi display cabinet.
Matic – New kid on the robo-vac scene
Made by Built by two former Google Nest engineers, the Matic is a new take on the Roomba category, and claims it solves the common problems associated with the typical robot vacuum; it’s less susceptible to thick rugs, cables, chair legs, and corners, and doesn’t generate a map of your home it then sends to the cloud. It does this by operating on more real-time visual input than an internal map of your spaces. It also looks very cute, very Wall-E. Check out their site for more info, as well as The Verge’s write-up.
See you next week! 👋😄
